Maybe this can only happen in New Orleans, butI was at a birthday party/jam for one of my band members on Monday, and I met Al Carnival Time Johnson, who did probably the most famous Mardi Gras song of all time. He is in the Louisians Music Hall of Fame. We were talking about the difficult chord structure of the song, when we decided to open the jam with it. We electrified the crowd, and he said I did great. He listened to me all night, and had some good comments. He agreed to be one of the judges of our local IBF challange coming up.
Maybe I impress too easily, but this song is over 50 years old, and is a New Orleans Institution. Has anyone else had this experience?

Hobostubs: Come on down! that is how I got to meet and play with so many of the greats. I try to do my little bit with keeping this concept alive via my posting about it. Otherwise, I fear it may die a silent death to the cyberspace universe. There is nothing wrong with cyberspace, but for real learning there is nothing like seeking out the ones you look up to in the flesh. If there was a harp player out there today, or any blues player, that tripped me like those old guys did, I would walk to their town if I had to.
