hi guys. need some halp please third position starts on the 4d right what is the notes for the i vi v progression or is ther a blues scale you can use. playing ajam the other night the song was in em i picked up the d harp and played 456 draw mostley but would like to know the proper notes. thanks sin road harp.

The blues scale I use in 3rd is:
1- 2-bb 2- 3-bb 3-b 4- 5- 6 6-b 6- 7 8-

That's two octaves. For the IV chord you can basically just play second position and resolve on the two draw and six blow. The V chord I tend to kind of just wail on the 6 draw a lot, and play around that neighborhood, but I'm still working on it. Technically if you learn 4th position, that would function nicely as the V chord, I believe.

For a little variety I also add in the five blow and the six overblow.

You can look up positions and scales on overblow.com. They have a scale finder, the link for it is right above the video on the home page. It's incredibly useful for learning new positions and modes.
