Like everyone else on here I'm sure we all got a bunch of harps laying around with dead holes in them. So I'm going to get a donor and knock all the reeds out and replace them. But what I'm going to do is use different material. I have used in the past an old razor blade with somewhat good sucess.I'd like to try stainless blade this time. This is going to be very time consuming because the last time I replaced one it was extremely time consuming since different thickness was envolved I had to use a whet stone to thin it down and countless times assembling to get the right note.I have learned over the years that the reeds sound can be changed by adding or subtracting weight to the reed. This going to be interesting and if anyone would like to chime in one this or has experience let me know.I think I will start out with a high pich key so since the reeds are heavier it will naturally bring it down...where? I dont know.
