Jim Rumbaugh takes 5th place in the Ohio State Harmonica Championship. At the awards presentation, Jim said,”5th place is better that no place” Un-named sources confirmed that Jim has been noplace before. Photographers and the press took many pictures of Mr. Rumbaugh, and he answered all their questions following the photo op. One unknow female was seen asking Jim to go somewhere. No other details are available.

In other news, David Payne took first place.

how many people were competing?

The last time I competed in anything was a dog show about 15 years ago. I came in 2nd!!!

Then again there were only two of us that had chow chows in the breed ring.

@Buddha:There were 11 contestants. This is my second time to take the "lowest awarded position" in a competition event. The only other and first time I competed, I tied for last place. 6 competed. 4 were awarded. I and another must have tied for last.

5th place IS better than noplace.

It should be noted that David Payne won the 2010 Ohio State championship -his second consecutive year - with a West Virginia song, "Country Roads" and a boogie for chromatic harmonica written by a West Virginian. $200 wasn't bad for five minutes work.

Jim played a blues tune and "Happy Wanderer," which featured this really cool old German style of chordal and double stop accompaniment.

David

Don't believe everything you read in the papers. Jim Rumbaugh played "Big Rock Candy Mountain" in competition. He sang "Happy Wanderer" in the jam session before the competion. Jim was still allowed to compete, despite his singing.

Itwas Big Rock Candy Mountain, hahaha. He seriously did a good job on that, annunciating every syllable, I was muttering along with it "there's a lake of stew and of whiskey too, you can paddle all around it in a big canoe," etc.

Oh yeah, correction: I just found this. The 2009 winner was: "David Payner" I thought that was hilarious.
