Hi Guys. My name is Camilo. I'm from Colombia (not columbia) but I'm actually living in Argentina, since I study here -literature and linguistics-. I started playing harp about two years and a half, and I must say that have taked it quite seriously: practicing almost everyday, trying to improve myself, etc.
I must rate myself as an intermediate harp player, since there are still thousands of things that I have still to learn. I'm an amateur overblower, can "pop" them, but still far from making the sound like they should.
Blues was what got me into harmonica. Before starting, hearing "blues guitar" was my thing, guys like SRV, Freddie King, ALbert King rocked my world, but when I started playing, of course, my predilections changed towards more harmonica amicable bands. However I`m also interested in other type of music. I have my latin rooths, so I like latin music -primarly salsa, and some latin Jazz-, but also rock, soul, and other genres of music. Because of that, I started this year studying some harmony, trying to "understand" a bit more music, so I could play more things than just blues. It's still a long way to go, but here we go.
Well, I've been following you for some weeks, and I finally decided to register. Harmonica world is full of great people, so I hope to meet some of you here, and why not, make some friends.
Well, for finishing this introduction, two pieces of me, playing.
Funk Blues in the key of G. The backing track can be found in youtube. Second position. gear: Pocket pod and a Shure Bg 1.1 /dynamic mic/
this is an Ska in twelve position, in the key of Eb, so played with a Bb harmonica. Kind of crazy stuff.
Welcome to the Forum from London UK Camilo. I enjoyed your harp recordings, particularly your Ska one.
It's really great to put your recordings on the forum like that. It lets us know what sort of player you are and makes it much more interesting for everyone.
I hope your time on the forum will be enjoyable and informative.
