groyster1 - you really ought to do a bit more digging into Blues history before you make claims like this. He probably had a bad night.
Wild Child Butler was a fantastic blues harp player. He had several albums out. He recorded a fantastic album in 1966 for the Jewel label. He recorded an album that received a great deal in critical acclaim in 1976 called Funky Butt Lover, reissued as Lickin' Gravy on Rooster Blues. During the 90's, he recorded a couple of really good albums on the Bullseye label.
To some traditional players in the know, he's a pretty influential player. His tune, Hippie's Playground, was a pretty popular tune in Chicago. He's a good singer and songwriter. If more players had tone and style like the Wild Child, the world would be a better place.
I do a couple of his tunes. Wild Child was bad ass. If you don't get it, it's not his fault.

Joe: you've completely misunderstood groyster1's post. He didn't say that Wild Child Butler played badly. What he said was that he think's that Wild Child Butler was responsible for this quote: "Anybody can play harmonica....badly"

I'm so disappointed in this topic... I was reading on my iphone and thought the thread title was "wild child BUTTER." Any thoughts on wild child BUTTER then?
