I'm going to post a few videos that I've found on YouTube by Latin jazz players whose records I used to buy and licks I used to steal. I saw all of them live. First up is Paquito d'Rivera, the "Cuban Charlie Parker":

I saw Dizzy Gillespie do this version of "Manteca" at Grant's Tomb right around this time: 1982. The main riff is what got me.

When I say "main riff," I'm talking about the riff from :43 to :54 in the following video. It falls beautifully on the harp in 2nd position. I used to walk the streets playing it:

The Michel Camilo composition, "One More Once," is a 12-bar blues done Latin jazz style. This version is slightly lame; Camilo's original, with his big band, is ridiculously good:

Since this is a jazz thread,I thought I"d tell you that nationally known and Pittburgh local legend Gene Ludwig has died. He was a great B3 player with a lot of copable stuff for a harp player. You should check him out if you have the time.
