My brand new recording computer is not working right so sweetwater is sending a new one out. With no studio to record in, summer off, I got time on my hands, so I got to thinking.......

So much of what I hear with harp blues sounds the same I thought it would be cool for members to post their songs that are blues, but different than the norm. Like Barbeque Bob says, you got to step out and experiment. Here are some of mine.

On my journey I have found one can sound very different from the pack without any fancy tuned harps, overblows, or pedal/electronic effects coupled to an amp. Don't rush through the unamplified learning curve because there is still alot of stuff yet to be discovered in the simple stuff via just plain phrasing amoung other things. Walter

these are with me doing all the instruments and overdubbing the harp last.

short stepping inside out swing

the story of me and my harp with katherine stevens on drums and douglas mckenzie bass, we played a house party so quiet there was no amplification on the harp and vocals

Quantcast

1. Gotta Keep Movin - third position, but if you follow the intervals, it is pretty outsounding

2. Leave Your Light On - if you listen closely, the song is a 12 bar progression...My playing is all 2nd position minor pentatonic playing and not all that inventive. The solos resolves on a 6ob with vibrato.

3. North Wind - live I've started the outro solo with a Low E...here is a standard E in third position...not really all that bluesy on the outro.

4. Karma King - 4th position Aeolain playing over a minor blues...different since the song isn't modal and it isn't the blues scale.
