Here is one more from the market yesterday. I get about 5 or so of these type encounters each time I play. I love having little kids come around. I sang about them, the color of their shirts, what a nice smile they have, what a good mother to have raised them so nice, etc, and becoming a 1 man band. they were curious about that. They got a kick out of it and I am proud to be able to share a different approach to music than they will see in school or on tv. I give out max's t-biscuits for dogs buttons to all the kids too. I found a lifetime supply of button making supplies and 3 professional button presses. It is from the 60's and when buttons went out of vouge, went into a storage space. My students love making buttons and kids love pinning them on.

Arie, the old man, is the unoffical mayor of our village. He is 95 and still lives independently in the village. His whole life is about relationships. He sits on the same bench downtown whenever the weather is good and welcomes everyone for conversation. He even remembers everyones names!

I learn alot from the kids and Arie. The kids teach me to be free and dream and Arie teaches me the value of in the flesh friendships. He has no cell phone, no tv, no net, but has a state of the art answering machine because he never wants to miss a person calling.

The sound is pretty bad, but the vibe of my live gigs is caught good IMO. Walter

man Walter looks like your having a blast,I admire how comfortable you are around people it really shows, thats the one thing that i wish i could develop into, more so than improving as a better player, although that would be nice also, but to be at ease and comfortable around people exspecially strangers.

Hobostubs: Thanks for the feedback. I am comfortable performing. I approach my playing onstage the same way I do on my front porch. That video at the market would be no different than if I was playing Carnigie Hall. To me, the performance has to flow naturally. That includes how one relates to the audience. Just like "the rules of playing" most seem to follow, there are unoffical rules for each genere of music for relating to the audience. An example in folk music- the performer tells a story about the song they are going to sing that can often be longer than the song itself :-). Arena rock bands say very little but what they do is usually some kind of high energy yelling and leave very little time between songs. Jazz guys look down and rarely make connection with audience...... Blues guys talk about women and drinking........ Heck that would be a good topic - What are the performer communication to audience cliches for each genere of music. Walter

being a good frontman is a art itself,I have lots of songs but im uncomfortable being a frontman ,I would like to break that, the last band i was in,the frontman had so much energy,it glowed off him it made me jealous in a way people that can do that, they play the same song someone who dosnt have that and the energy they project does something to make it better,I would like to be able to do that,Im shy and quiet unless made mad then im way to hot tempered but i get along with most everybody, but im not sure about that frontman energy, how to get it,or can it be got,or learned,I dont know
