that robert nighthawk clip brought back tons of memories. That is the kind of audience I was so fortunate to play to so many years. I wish I could get that kind interactive dancing, yelling going on with the white audiences. Texas, louisiana, newark NJ,and oakland ca, were deep in this this stuff. Todays gigs/festivals can be pretty boring as a performer............ Walter

There's the classic scene in the Blue Brothers on Maxwell st. with John Lee Hooker and Big Walter on harp!

In that second clip, that's Little Pat Rushing playing guitar and singing. I played a party with him back in 1983. It looks like Playboy Vinson on drums. He played with Sunnyland Slim for quite a while.

Maxwell Street was a real trip. I used to go down there quite a bit. You could buy anything there. The music was pretty raw. It was a pretty nasty place to be on a rainy, hot and humid Monday morning. The streets were filled with garbage and there were rats running around feasting on all sorts of shit.

That's not Big Walter playing the harp. The late Little Joe Berson was overdubbed.

It's funny-I hadn't heard "Murder My Baby" in 20+ yrs. and today I heard it twice. That first clip and Pat Hare's version on Pandora. Nice clips.thanks.

For those who don't know Pat Hare took the lyrics to that song quite literally. He played with Muddy for a while. Before jail.

Joe L.-I'm a bit confused. That's BW in the clip, but Little Joe Benson dubbed in the harp? I payed closer attention and that doesn't sound like BW to me,but I could be wrong. Did BW pass on before the dubbing? Why else would they have to overdub HIM?

There's nothing to be confused about. Little Joe Berson was overdubbed. He was a protege of Big Walter. It's possible that Big Walter had passed, but I don't know the details. I didn't ask. The person that told me that was a very reliable source.
