The 4th WV State Harmonica Championship will be Saturday July 31th at 2pm in Huntington, WV. The event is sponsored by The Harmonica Club of Huntington, WV ( www.theharmonicaclub.com ) It is one of the events of the 6th annual Hotdog Festival sponsored by Clear Channel Comunications. First prize is $200, second $100, third $50 Each contestant will have 5 minutes to do 2 songs. At least one of the songs must be a recognizable tune. You are allowed to be accompanied by a musician with an acoustical instrument. To participate, a $10 donation to The Cabell Huntington Children’s Oncology Unit is required. Harmonica expert Pat Missin ( www.patmisson.com ) will be one of the judges.
Last year, our own Dave Payne a.k.a Elkriverharmonica, came in 2nd place. I just checked the club's web site. I am ASHAMED to admit I never put up any of last year's pictures or audio. I will try to do that in the next few days, IF I get time. There's a LOT of stuff happening here in WV.
