Those look like micanol base power tubes, but hard to tell. Speakers are nice small magnets. Road wear is not all that much. BUT, it is a RI.
Some may like the customized/painted grille, but not myself. Maybe in 50 years , but I'll be 105 by then and telling every other player where to go.
Clean ones go for less than $1K, while those ADVERTISED ( and unsold ) are from $1,200-1,500. Course, they are not gigged with by national players.
( To me, provenance is nothing without proper tone ).
I once played thru one of Big Walter's favorite mic's.
OK, maybe my style at the time...but totally unimpressive to even my ears.
This is not being critical, just observant.

If I were rig hunting, this might intrigue....at under a grand. For UGH! factor, this will appeal to young bucks. For an over-rated and over-priced Fender RI, $1,500 might seem a bargain.
[ I'll stick with "Carmen", the ten-tube Traynor dominatrix I tamed with 5814A's, 12AY7's, and 7247's; then bridged to get 120 watts thru 2X12 Jensen's. Maybe not as fuzzy/distorted as a Bassman, but just as much juice...actually more. ]

For real gigging, I am so taken with the versatility of "Blanche", the rebranded Ampeg Rocket from 1960.
I can make her sound loud or mellow with easy mic manipulations and cupping techniques. I even had my DRUMMER giving me compliments this past week.
We did the Willie Dixon classic "Groanin' Blues" in a half-funk psychobilly version that I comped and did vox, followed by some gritty/fat harp.
The fellows impressed me, and I think I did likewise.

To get back to the subject,....I would bid $800 for a beat up rig owned by a prospective legend, but no more.

Now, get me the Danalectro Commando supposedly used by LW....?

Variations on a theme. I mean really, aren't we just trying to get a decent sound and tone? A few extra dollars or less, a little more wattage. We all know we can always find "something better".

"To get back to the subject,....I would bid $800 for a beat up rig owned by a prospective legend, but no more."

If I were buying an amp from someone who could use the money, I might not grossly overpay, but I would consider that the person (if they were a friend, and aren't we all friends and family in this here harmonica community?) needed the money if they were selling gear. It's not about driving the best bargain all the time. If I were in a position to do so, I would gladly pay a little more if it were something historic, or the seller needed a helping hand. Let's keep that in mind.

I've played through this amp several times and it indeed sounds fantastic.

If I had the cash, I would pony up $1500-$2000 for the amp. Then I would stick it in my closet and wait for Jason to get financial stable again and let him buy it back.

I paid for my 7W Marble Max 740 euros, which is about 930$ todays currency. I would easily pay 1500-2000$ for that rig if I'd be looking for one. And I know I wouldn't regret that - after all it is proven to be good, customized amp from one of the best harpists out there..

buddha, why not just float some money to jason.
or rent the amp up to the amount you do have to help a friend.
there are lots of ways to help out a friend if he needs money.
being a pawnshop is one way, but it costs both parties more in the end.

Jason sold a few of his own custom harps on ebay for relatively big bucks last year or the year before, maybe that would be a better way to earn some $$ during the down-time. I've had to sell stuff before that was dear to me, and usually regretted it.

before I started making harps for the public, I was in a situation where I was forced to sell everything of value.

Like Joe, I regretted much of it because I wasn't forced to be "resourceful" until I had nothing.

@eharp - I have already given more to Jason than most. I have nothing to give right now.

I don't even use the harp gear amp I own now otherwise I'd consider this. So is like 90% going to Jason? I'm also interested in seeing what this goes for, just the idea of having an amp used by him would be amazing to me.
