Hi Marty: thanks for listening! That song made me laugh too. Judy and I walked to the village center that night to see the carnival. they had live music and there was this band playing every known super pop chart hit from that era and man were they bad on top of that! That was the inspiration for that song. Wlater ---------- walter tore's spontobeat - a real one man band and over 1 million spontaneously created songs and growing. It's a big thing nowadays, but it's always gone on small scale - I remember holiday camps in the Sixties and Seventies when the resident entertainers ground out Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree every night! Ah, the bad old days! ---------- Andrew, gentleman of leisure, noodler extraordinaire.

Andrew: I remember that as well. I think the big difference today is this type of performance, which has always garnished the lions share of the gigs and money, has taken a big hit too, thinning thier numbers. Like all bands today, even the top cover bands have had to retreat to gigs that 20 years ago would have never been on their calendar. Thus the domino effect, and the bands that played traditional and original music have been bumped even further into oblivion by cover bands filling their spots on stripped of budget festivals. the band I saw last night would never be on that stage 20 years ago. they would have been in their garage drinking beers and fantizing what it would be like to be the rolling stones. Instead the promoters are cash strapped, and try to get the biggest "bang" for their buck and hired them.
