---------- So I see an advert from Jim offering to fully repair any harps as a trade in, e.g., "you send me 3 broken harps, I keep 2 and repair and tune the remaining 1 for you". Now for me- a gigging player with decades of slightly and grossly broken harps filling a cabinet this offer was a dream. The catch: Jim's in Bulgaria and I'm in Manhattan. Nevertheless after a couple of emails I sent 36 Golden Melodys, Meisterklasses, etc off and they were in Jim's receipt in about a week. The first thing Jim does is Youtube the unpacking of the harps (presented as a kind of comedy in earnest). You can find the video by scrolling around my Youtube page under the page for bigdennism. At each turn (without any request or expectation of such by me) Jim emailed me about what he found, what I wanted, and what he suggested. And today I got back 13 super duper lucid and tuned harps. He also added a bonus special "true harmonic" tuning on one (which would take me many hours to master). So: the tunings are great, the responsiveness- something we did go over in detail- is perfect for me, and the communication and dedication towards the 13 harps was superlative. In about 3 weeks from Bulgaria too! Good job Jim. d

Thanks Dennis!

I'm glad it all arrived fine and that you liked the harmonicas. As I told you - I've set those up similar to what I would enjoy playing myself.

Here's the Trueharmonic note layout. It's real fun for playing in arabic and other exotic modes:

Sounds fantastic. Trouble is, I don't have any broken harps. I wonder if you could send him three new Marine Bands and get a custom one back. That would be good value for money for an American, although a bit more expensive for someone in Britain. Now, if you could get three nondescript MB's really cheap on Ebay...!

Andrew, that actually depends on what you need. 3 to 1 for new harps could work as well - why not.

If you need a responsive custom MB, I can offer you one with Slava Vinogradov's comb - these are $85 and are real nice. You can pick any of the 8 wood types:

Those MBs have a responsive general (non-overblow) setup, and the nails are replaced with screws.

I can vouche for Jim, too. He really is a class act. His knowledge of the harp (repairs, layout, etc) shows that he's really immersed himself in it.

Jim, you still offering that Chromatic?

Dennis...that was a great video. The girl sounds like Katie Lang and I like the tone of the tele. Your playing is very nice as well. Going to listen to it again.

What a little stage though. It reminds me of a bar in Minneapolis where they basically push a pool table up against the corner ledge that the band has to try and fit on it. Think it's called the 400 Bar.

Indeed it is a small stage. I played on it (well off to the side) for 4 plus hours last night backing singers for Ashford and Simpson (It's their club) and 2 hours tonight with most of the band in the posted video. Anyway thanks for the generous compliments and forgive me for not being able to trace the "package opening". I thought I had saved it. Jim may have it (It really was meant to be a funnily crafted act of integrity, e.g., showing exactly what was received) d

oda,
I have 5 TrueChromatics ready at the moment - if you need one.

I think I deleted the unpacking video since it was of no use anymore...
I did it at normal speed first and it turned out 20 min ) So I speeded it up, which sure looked funny. And in the end I counted all harps 2 times, and surely counted both times wrong and then realized that an MB365 was left in the bag unnoticed :)
