I'm gonna start with a disclaimer: this is not a note by note transcription of the song .I am , probably , an intermediate player and the tabs are just something that I have worked out for myself , and I decided to share it in case somebody else is interested , so everything is "as is" , no implied warranty .

The song is "Blowin' the family jewels " by William Clarke ,it's in the key of A , played in 3rd position ,so you will need a G harp .This is not a minor song , Clarke makes heavy use of the major 6 ,7 draw in 3rd postion , so if you are one of the players that retunes the 7 draw you will not gonna be able to play the song.

If you go on the youtube page you will find the link to download a file that contains: the backing track , a slowed down backing track , the harp tab in the text file , and a slowed down versions of all the harp parts.

Thanks Sorin. I found your Help me video very useful as I'm sure I'll get a lot out of this one. This Is the kind of thing MBH should be about. Thanks for sharing.

"Clarke makes heavy use of the major 6 ,7 draw in 3rd postion , so if you are one of the players that retunes the 7 draw you will not gonna be able to play the song."

Actually, if you tune your 7 draw down a half step, you can still get that note (major 6th in third pos., major 3rd in cross harp), by blow bending hole 7. Although you'll run into a problem if you need to play a glissando that runs over the 7 draw, but you can always just improvise something else instead. In this case you glissando up and land on the seven draw. You can do this with a retuned 7 draw because you land on the note, it's not in the middle of the glissando. You will need to play a draw glissando up to the six draw and as soon as you hit the six draw you immediately jump to the 7 blow bend. It'll take a lot of practice to get it smooth sounding but it can definately be done.

Thanks for posting your video Sorin, I enjoyed it.

EDIT: Listening to it again, I realised you're not actually sliding into the draw 7, you slide into the draw 6. Also in the beginning there is a part where you glissando to the draw 8 a couple times, so this could cause some problems with a retuned draw seven. My only suggestion with a retuned draw seven would be to glissando up to draw 6 and then immediately jump to draw 8, if done quickly it should sounnd pretty good.

Can somebody tell me if the first 90 seconds of this video plays ok , on your computer?
It always chokes several times on both of my home computer , even if the video is fully buffered . It's the only video that does this.

Thank you

The download link from your Youtube vid for Blowin the Family Jewels does not work for me. Is there a chance that you could e-mail me a copy?

Jd thanks for the help , tenbarsteam I am at work and cannot check the original downloading link. And yes you can play it lip pursing , that's how I do it too, at the parts where's TB intervals , just play one of the 2 notes , whichever you want.

Nice! William Clarke is easily one of my most favorite blues harp guys. I'll see if I can work this into my practice routine somehow.

On a side note - intermediate must include a very large range of talent & skill. Sorin sounds like he's on the higher end :) .
