I really like a lot of these irish tunes, Ive been singing and playing Whiskey in the jar on the guitar the last month or so with a bit of rack harp thrown in. ........."As I was walking over the far famed Kerry Mountains, I came across Captain Farrel and his money he was counting." ...........great song!
Wild Rover & Irish Rover are a couple of good ones. Also fields of Athenry. I really like the story these songs tell.
I bought an instructional book by Brendan Power with a few jigs and reels in it, but I havent got too far into it yet.
thanks Tryharp, yea im new to these Irish tunes ,but i like em.although it takes me awhile to learn one, compared to the other students at the school. But i think they are nice to know.Thats the strong point of Harmonica academy Tony Eyers gives a good study of Irish fiddle tunes.Ive heard alot of people mention Brendan Powers book being a good study also.
Glenn Weisers book "Irish and American fiddle tunes for Harmonica" is pretty good if you can find a copy... ---------- My granddad gave me some sound advice on his deathbed. "It's worth spending money on good speakers," he told me.
Also I have Weisers book "Irish and American fiddle tunes for Harmonica" and I'm liking it. I got mine from Amazon a few weeks ago. Comes with a CD of some of the tunes.
