Friends: This is a forum for talking about blues harmonica stuff. It's not a forum for posting the names and sex crimes of dozens of Catholic priests. It's ESPECIALLY not a forum for the latter when I explicitly modified the forum creed a few weeks back and said "leave religion alone" after there had been a lot of trouble about the topic.
There is no way in goddamned hell, frankly, that a Catholic reading Nasty's endless post COULDN'T feel as though his or her religion were being personally attacked. Nasty's post is a flagrant violation of the forum creed. It's the most flagrant violation of the forum creed that anybody has yet engaged in, in fact.
For the record, I'm not a Catholic. But this forum is a place where Catholics are welcome. And Jews, and Muslims, and New Agers. I would have done exactly the same thing if somebody had posted an endless list of the crimes of the Jews.
Nobody is above the law.
Here is the thread with the offending post:

I've tried to defend nasty and his rough edges in the past, but alas, there's really no way to defend this transgression. I thought the length of the cut and paste job might in and of itself lead to some kind of action. Coupled with what it was about.....I figured it was just a matter of time.

I agree. This is not a place for Catholic bashing, not to say that it should not be done and/or they don't deserve it, just not here.

There is no way in GD hell??That statement is just as offensive to ones self as much as to Christianity . What do you get when you crush a violet the sweet perfumed fragrance of the violet. To bad life is not like the violet. When someone does us wrong if possible we look the other way . So when life's passions and inclinations get in my way I think of a simple violet that when crushed gives you something better in return. Happy Fathers Day to all you fathers.

As a lapsed Catholic who is none too pleased with the hypocracy going on in the church,I was very tempted to make a smart ass comment. I held my tongue because it has no place on this forum. As a matter of fact,I quit reading the thread after about 6 posts. Missed Nasty's comments. I could only imagine....

This forum is a continuous source of entertainment!
German Harpist said "I've deleted all but the neutral posts..." Then I read this neutral material by Buddha:
"Heck for all I know, Porn is the ultimate religious cinema. Think about it, Adam and Eve, running around naked in the forest with nothing else to do but be pornographic. ;-P
Maybe I should have used my original title for this thread.
Catholics Rejoice! All other religions can suck it."
You guys are a hoot!

I can totally understand the reasons for Nastyolddog being removed, but as long as off topic threads are allowed here then I think these kind of things are more likely to happen again. Surely the point of this forum is to discuss harmonica.Isn't it?
I would have thought that it would be a far better idea to have simply banned any posts not directly related to harmonica, music and gear. Even then of course the monster that is "troll" can raise it's head, but I should think it would be far easier to control by a simple warning system. Say for example if someone breaks the rules either in one thread or over a number of threads, you could have a three strikes and you're out kind of thing. This could be done by directly emailing any person who abuses the forums rules and issuing them with a warning and not bought out in public so as to entice even more abuse from any "trolling" or bullying from any angle of any individuals.

Well I will miss the "color" that Nasty brought - I spent too much time trying to understand what he was talking about most of the time anyway. But Adam, I understand and support your decision. It is both your responsibility and your right! ---------- /Greg

Guess I'm not alone. It got to the point where I'd skip over Nasty's posts because I didn't have the hour needed to decipher them. Sometimes a funny guy,but very hard to read.

@ Kudzu, Nothing wrong about your decision, and thanks for taking the time to explain it.
BUT, once done, please, lock the thread. This one doesn't need replies. It just make me feel ill at ease to read comments (good or bad) about a guy who obviously cannot answer back.
Few days ago, Nacoran started a great thread about moderator's job, and if there are comments to be made, it should be there, in a positive way.

Excellent point, saregapadanisa. I am locking the thread. I have no hard feelings against Nasty, and wish him well.
@Kingley: I see your point. It's been my hope since the beginning that people would find a way of being self-regulating if give a few basic guidelines, and in fact most people have managed to behave. But not all. It's possible I'll need to modify the way we do business here, and your suggestions are good ones.
