I plugged it in, set the bass on 7, treble on 7, mid on 2, bright volume on 2 and normal volume on 7. That's loud - I measured it at 102.5dB max - but not as loud as the amp will go. I turned on my Edirol R-09 and blew a little. I didn't plan a concert - I just wanted you to hear single note, chord, meat, full harmonic distortion, compression, and clean notes - all on the same setting. One of my wood mics with a CR straight into the amp, no pedals. I have goosebumps. This amp breaks up like a Kalamazoo - and that is a HUGE compliment to an amp this size.
I'll have to wait until I get home to listen but are you bridging the channels? I've got a Cruncher and get the same goosebumps. It may be my mic but I've found I don't need that much base, only 4-5, and with a bit more mid than 2 it just bring's it on home.
Yes, that's bridged. The Avenger has tone more like the Cruncher than the Four-ten, but it adds some cool compression to the mix - and more volume. ---------- /Greg
Hi Greg, Sorry guys I can't work out how to listen to this sound and I would like to. Can someone post the sound clip or tell me how to get to listen to it
EV said "a great tweedy raunch and some nice brassy trumpet-like characteristics" - have to agree with you - that's a good description. ---------- /Greg
The amp was great - and loud enough to be heard when the band was VERY, VERY loud. I couldn't believe how loud I had to set the amp - normal on 9.5, bright on 5, mid on 3, bass on 8, treble on 8 - but it really cut through. A friend who posts a zillion YouTubes recorded it for me but she hasn't posted them yet. ---------- /Greg
This is a jam I used to go to a lot, not so much any more. 3rd position solo, minor blues. Not very proud of the solo. You can't tell from the video but it was TOO FREAKIN' LOUD. I had the amp CRANKED. The good news is that I could hear it well, and I could be heard.
@ 3:10 is me doin' Ike Turner's Matchbox. Different drummer, who sucked.
