He's a great player who I got a chance to meet back in 2003 when Jerry Portnoy had his 60th Birthday gig at Sculler's in Boston, MA. He realy has the Sonny Terry and Big Walter thing down cold. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
That's a really generous thing he's doing. He's a terrific player, one of the very, very best in the UK. Imagine if Rod Piazza or the late William Clarke were uploading YT videos. Boggles the mind. My hat's off to him. Keep the spirit of play and sharing alive, I say.

Definitely. And, by all accounts, a great entertainer (never had the pleasure of seeing him live, something which I intend to put right soon) and a nice bloke.
What Kingley didn't make clear--and it wasn't clear to me until I visited the paullambmusic channel on YouTube--is that PL has literally JUST created a YT channel. I'm the eighth subscriber. Let's all help him out and subscribe to his channel en masse.

Yeah Paul's YouTube channel is indeed a new one and I agree with Adam, we should all subscribe to it.
I have seen Paul Lamb play a heap of times. His band can really cook up a storm. It's always a fun night listening to them. Paul's amplified tone is superb. He mostly play through a Fender Concert, although he does also use a Sonny Jr 410 from time to time as well. The current line up of his band The Kingsnakes also has Paul's son Ryan on guitar.
In Oxharp's first vid he does the off-beat or more like "out of the beat" lick similar to what Sansone did at Hill Country. Gets back on groove at the ideal time in the turn-around.....and the Sonny Terry whoops fit just right in next vid.
The thing about Paul that isn't always immediately obvious from clips like this, is that he has a simply HUGE amplified tone, jaw dropping. It's very brave man indeed that will pick up a mic & play side by side with him.
I was able to see Paul Lamb play live twice in the last couple of years really enjoyed both and looking forward to the next one. fantastic player and a genuine nice guy too. whats missing from youtube is the dynamics of his live shows...
21 today ---------- My granddad gave me some sound advice on his deathbed. "It's worth spending money on good speakers," he told me.
