Hi Bro's i have a Harp Gear HG2, Spec sheet says it's running Preamp tube 12AY7,
Power tube 6V6
Rectifier tube 5Y3GT
for the Preamp tube it says i can replace the 12AY7
With either 12AX7 5751 12AT7 12AU7
what tube swapes have you done with your HG2 Amp or would do, not just the Preamp tubes all of them,
I'm allso thinking of getting some silicone Tube Dampers i used them on my Little Epiclone amp with good results,
Whats your take on Tube Dampers do you use them,do you think they work or not?

I have the Double Trouble which came with the 12AY7 and tried 12AX7 and 5751. I prefer the 5751 b/c it allows me to get more crunch out of the tone with reasonable feedback control. The 12AX7 was a little too much. Never needed silicon dampers - they're used mostly to control power tube rattle.

Yo Joe i'm happy with the amp but i think there may be some microphonics when i stop playing there is a after Chime like reverb,
so i think dampers may solve the problem, of the valves being in a hostile enviroment cutting down vibrations with in the valves,
it's not a big problem but if it's not suposed to be there i want it gone:)
i noticed it had the lowest gain factor Valve fitted and would like to do a valve swap to get a bit more punch or crunch as Cisco says,
Bro i been trying differnt speaker combos latly with geat results, got some vintage Magnavox speakers so i need to experiments with some valve swaps,
to see how these speaker combos sound befor i build a custom Cab, no it in a Hurry just testing so far any info would be great Bro's :)

I run a 12AX7 in my Champ which is a pretty similar circuit. It sounds really good with most microphones. I tried a 12AY7 in it. I didn't care for the sound, but I think it was a personal preference.
I've got a Double Trouble, too. It am running it with an Electro Harmonix 12AY7 preamp tube and the original Groove Tube 6V6's. When the preamp tube died, I tried a 12AX7 for a short time. I didn't care for the change, so I swapped in the 12AY7.
If you suspect a tube might be bad, I would swap them for the exact same numbers. It might help to identify a problem. There is little to be gained from not using an orderly process.
