That's dirt cheap for a Champ clone.

@ Joe L - yeah I think it is pretty cheap considering the new Fender champ sells for £750 & the Harp Gear sells for $800, i think $250 sounds about right :)

Well, you can't buy the parts to build that amp for less than $400.

Buddha - Didn't you own a Harpgear 5F1 amp? Those are tweed Champ circuits.

Well they certainly don't sound good for clean SM57 thru the PA tone with some pedal-action, anyways.

The HarpGear 5F1 was basically a champ with some modifications to make it even more suitable for harmonica. It was a great little amp with a huge tone.

thanks Kingley, I was going to say something like that so it's not really a champ clone is it Joe_L?
Those recent vids of me playing blues shows me with my harpgear amp, holding my own with a full band and the tone was monstrous.

You're right. It's got a couple of different caps. I've got no problems getting a really nice sound out of a tweed Champ. Maybe, it's an operator problem.

I would think so, Joe. Tweed Champs are great studio amps for harp.

I actally owned one years ago, before I got in to harp, and gave it to a friend for his music class. I didn't know what I had. Fool! They're good...but not THAT good. Not enough bottom. And I don't very much. I am partial to the EL84's creamy mids and bottom. The Kalamazoo Model one is all you need. I made a head cab out it...and can to push 2 X 12's, and just about anything else. It's amazing! Highly under rated amp btw.. I grab what I can on Ebay and throw things together. Good old school tube amps from the 60's. Zenith, Admiral, RCA, Silvertone, etc. You probably have a neighbor who is throwing one out right now. It's a good way to experiment without building em from the ground up... ..harp on!
