While I accept that America had a prominent part in the war, I can't accept they won the war by them self Great Britain and their allies were fighting for the first half of the war,
the Americans sold Britian there weapons and watched on the side lines, while draining Britain of its reserves.
Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour and they got a bloody nose decided to give the British a hand. I can understand that the war had nothing to do with America in the beginning. But it didn't have anything to do with Great Britain either at the start. We saw that after Poland was invaded, that Hitler was on a mission.
Anyway the point is, Would Great Britain Have won the war without the Americans help?
Ps no direspect to Bluesnuts Father, or person who served and die in wars :)

The Bloody Nose you speak of was in the tune of 2402 dead and 1282 wounded. I know of no one who who knows any damn facts about the war who think we fought it on our own. But you better believe that the ones who felt a sigh of hope was the Allies after the U.S declared war on the Axis powers.

Nasty, I get that there are many differing perspectives on the war. War is hell.
With all due respect, this is the worst time and place on the the forum to introduce a dispute about war history.
Let this be a place to honor the warriors.
Peace

@NODOG I saw nowhere where anybody implied that WWII was not a group effort. I don't know what you are reading into this, but in the States we are celebrating our our war heros. I'm sure in the land down under you do the same. nuff said.
Except for thanks to my grandfathers. One who trained bomber pilots at Langley AFB in VA. and the other who stormed the beaches at Tarawa.
