Yeah this is a Stage III w/composite comb (rosewood burgundy color). Heading to strawwoodclaw very soon!
The composite (Dymondwood brand) is a laminated material that is made by dying thin layers of hardwoods and layering them together with resin and pressing them all together under extreme pressure and heat.
That's without a doubt the prettiest harp comb I've ever seen. The lamination makes it look great, the lamination also makes it look like it would be really comfortable to play. I wish all my harps had combs like that.
I have been using beeswax to seal my combs, but have been toying with the idea of a water based polyurethane spray. Looking at those pics I think I'll have to give it a go.
Kingley, polyurethane is a MUCH better sealant than beeswax because beeswax is clearly not 100% moisture proof at all and just about all of the best customizers never use beeswax. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
The number on the can is 8080, its a half pint (brush on). It works better for sealing MB's if you let it get thick (pour some in another container and leave the lid loose).
Joe, I'll take it! How much is it? What key is it in? Nice lookin stuff man. I was told that the Dymonwood was pretty much moisture proof and didn't need a finish. This looks very good.
