Informal setting, two great players. I particularly like the way they trade phrases from 6:03.
Andy Just's name has not been mentioned much in this forum. His work is awesome, solo or with the Ford Blues Band. He is also blessed with a rare and great gift for a musician : smiling.
Mike, you seem to have access to some good SPAH info. Do you know any more tidbits about who will be part of the blowoff, etc? Appreciate any insite. There never seems to be any info on their website.
Andy also plays with one of my mics - although he doesn't use it all the time. I've gotten to know him and play with him - he is a really nice guy - AND an incredible harp player.
Now THIS is some top action harp blowing! Very refreshing to see guys clowning with SINCERE smiles and wailing on those horns without those lips being all poked out and that frown on their faces as if to say "I am baaaaaaaaaad". (which most ain't) By the way Mister Greg....those inline volume controls I bought from you are ideal. One on that Sure58 I blow into the amp with and the other one on the vocal mike so I can adjust and toy with it while doing the SonnyBoy stuff. Good products. Regards, Me
Regarding SPAH, what I know is there is going to be a harp show that Tuesday night with "headliners" from SPAH. It is at Famous Dave's and there should be transportation to and from the hotel.
The lineup isn't 100% in stone, but Andy (who has a set that Thursday at SPAH), RJ Mischo, Brendan Power, Joe Filisko, Steve Baker, and myself have all been asked to formally participate. I was told that sharing that info was ok to do publically. But like I said, I can't confirm anyone other than myself right now, and NiteRail will be the core backing band at the blow off. RJ for sure will be in town and Andy is supposed to be there too (my band, NiteRail, has been asked to back Andy on Thursday, but that isn't in stone yet, and RJ has tried lining up a few shows during that week in MN and will be in town).
I've been suggesting trying to get a couple of MN-related harp players on stage for the Tuesday show, but there is only so much money and time to go around. It is also not my call who appears.
The blues jam from 3-5pm on Friday will be played by my band.
I also know Howard Levy has been invited and is supposed to be a featured performer at the end of the week. ----------
