I got an email advertising a week long blues cruise down to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico featuring among many others Kim Wilson, John Nemeth and Irma Thomas.
I love the blues and I love Mexico and it seems to me it would be totally bitchin' to take one of those.
Of course I would take my harps and maybe a guitar and I invision a week of hanging out and participating in all kinds of jam sessions with my fellow passengers and perhaps some of the blues stars - or maybe not.
Has anybody taken one of those blues cruises?
I'm talking about the ones where you're gone for a few days, not just cruising the harbor for a night.
When I think about the equipment I could buy with the money they cost, I think I'm gonna have to win the lottery first...

I haven't,but friends have. It's on my "spend my kid's inheritance bucket list." There is a Pro_Am jam. And you get to rub elbows with the big names.

One of my best vacations- you get to meet and spend time with lots of big name players (even take a few harp lessons if you want "thanks Deak!!") Loads of fun and a lot of big name acts. Do it if you can---

Yep I went on the Ultimate Rhythm & Blues Cruise back in '96 - blimey 14 years ago! Taj Mahal, Koko Taylor, James Harman, Magic Dick, Chubby Carrier...too much fun, and seemed like all the punters on board were musicans - the jams carried on pretty much till morning. Highly recommended.
