when you have a reed go bad what do you do?Im guessing if you can use a screwdriver you can change out a reedplate but changing an individual reed is more difficult and takes more skill

I am curious about replacing individual reeds too. Where do you get them from? I saw a post yesterday from Wheezer who said he can buy individual Hohner reeds.

You can buy individual reeds them from harp-online, but I usualy just salvage mine from old reed plates.

When I first started playing I blew out a few reeds on a couple of marine bands, a promaster and fire breath.

I used the reeds from a old special 20 that I was given two bring 2 marine bands back to life and I used a reed from the promaster to fix the firebreath.

I play marine bands all the time and prefair to use rivets to fix the reeds because that is the way they come, but I used screws on the suzuki harps and they worked out ok.

Blowing out reeds isn't a problem for me any more, I can't remember the last time I had one go.

@earlounge. Don't quote me but I think you may need to buy the individual reeds in sets. If you intend doing a lot of reed replacing it may be worthwhile but if you don't you may be buying lots of reeds that you won't need to change.

I think it's a lot less hassle to just buy replacement plates especially if you need to use a magnifying glass to see those pesky rivets properly.
