Not much difference between the classic 1847. The most interest new thing is that they have new tactile oval stickers for the keys -- they glow in the dark! yaaay.
- superb air-tightness and improved handling due to the greater weight of the instrument
That's what I always liked about Seydel. The harmonicas have weight, they feel like instruments. I love SP20's, but going from a seydel to an sp20 feels so weird. the SP20 is weightless in comparison.

---------- you can by the coverplates seperatly to fit an 1847. they are matt finish and dont need to be polished. i'd like to hear what the side vents do to the tone,i might get a set to find out, i might get a set of oval key stickers aswell.

The side vents, just as on a Marine Band, Manji or Big River, what they will do is make the harp play louder and brighter and spread the sound out over a wider angle and it'll be more sensitive as to how you hold the instrument. The matte finish should also darken the tone a tad. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
