Anyone ever transplanted a Suzuki Promaster comb into the middle of a Marine Band tin sandwich?
Just lining up the holes, it looks possible. Need to get a better look at the reed lengths.
anyone ever seen it done?

Hey Rex, I checked this out.
The promaster comb is a little wider, left to right and a little deeper, front to back, but the reed and slot lengths work.
I drilled out Special 20 reedplates to a few of the existing promaster comb holes. Needed to drill a few holes through both plates and comb.
Sanding, screws and bolts still left some light coming through the back, but a tape gasket fixed it. Maybe someday you can try to get a better fit between plate and comb.
Bigger holes at each end to bolt on 80's blues harp covers. Looks good. Sounds responsive and vicious. Probably should have washed everything up more after sanding everything down, but the aluminum and brass dust must be what makes it sounds so tight.

I've done a couple. Everything lines up, just need to drill new holes. The promaster comb sticks out the back 3/32" but not much further than the coverplates. I have a complete set of Promasters that I'm planning to convert as soon as I have the proper equipment (the first two I had to do without a drill press).
I don't really like the sound of the Suzuki reedplates, or the shape of the coverplates of the newer ones in my set (they're fatter). ---------- Ozark Rich __________ ##########
