this is my hidden treasure since years. WEhen I was in NYC in the year 2003 I saw Gary Primich at Terra Blues, Bleecker Street, Manhattan. I made a live recording with my MD-Recorder and now I have a 55-minute Concert Recording.
I am not sure what I should do with this great and unique recording. It seems that there is not much live stuff of Gary Primich in the world.
I don`t know why I publish this one song today, a few years after Garys death. Maybe enough time goes by ? I wanna share this with blues lovers all around the world, but I dont wanna send this recordings through the world wide web like trash.
I dont think about making money with this. I think about making a record which people can buy (not from me!)and to make Garys work avaiable for everyone on a legal way. I think you know what I mean.
So, maybe Adam or whoever: If you know someone seriously who know what to do with my recording: please let me know.
It would be a shame if this concert would not be heard. Gary is my favorite harmonica player and he will ever be in my heart.
Mario!!!! Thank you so much for posting this! You just made my day! Gary Primich live and playing one of my favourite tracks too. I'll definitely buy a copy of that recording when you get it sorted out.
I think I may have been at that Primich performance Mario. Big Ed's doing a show with us in a couple of weeks. Sorry you won't be there. My best. d ---------- Myspace: dennis moriarty
Hi Dennis :-) Cool, so 2008 was not the first time we met. Big Ed - he is great. I love this man. 2003 I played with him an Popa Chubby at a blues jam at Roadhouse, downtown Manhattan, but it is gone now.
Next year I travel with friends from New Orleans to Memphis, along the Mississippi Blues Trail.
I was friends with Gary back in austin. We shared drummers for a year or so (jimmy carl black). I think what you want to do is done out of love of the music, but to publish a bootleg recording (or did you have permission?) is not a good idea without contacting his family. I have a friend in austin that is on the publishing end and represented Gary on some level at some point. I can give you his contact info. If I am all off base on this please straighten me out. ---------- walter tore's spontobeat - a real one man band and over 1 million spontaneously created songs and growing. Hi Walter, just to make it clear: I put the youtube video with the MP3 of Gary Primichs Music to show how the quality of the recording is. I would never ever share this whole concert on the internet without permission. I just wanna make shure that these recordings are avaiable for all who loves Garys music, on a legal way. I don`t want money. BTW: 2 years ago I get in contact with John Primich, Garys brother and I sended him the original MD. I just have the copy on my computer.
Please ask your friend and lets see what is possible. Do you know John Primich ?
Hi Mario: I sent my friend and you an email. I don't know his brother. I hope it all works out! It hurts afresh every time, hearing Gary's voice on something new. Some deaths leave you so aware of the loss of a powerful individual sensibility, not just the musical sensibility in this case, but the whole awareness of and engagement with life. Thanks, Mario. That is a fine ambient recording.
While you're at it, could you guys ask who's got control of the two nights Gary recorded live in Houston a few months before he passed away, with Mike Morgan brought aboard to play a lot of second guitar? It sounds like it would be John Primich. Gary really stepped up and made a statement that weekend and played a lot of material that was brand-new or unrecorded. Maybe they should go with the times and forget about making a physical CD project of it, just get tracks straight onto iTunes instead.
I play all ther time here in Florida with Gary's right hand man, guitar player and songwriter Mark Korpi. He knows all of Garys stuff-between him and myself,we are trying to learn the lyrics and harmonica stylings to keep Garys memories going. Mark is exceptional guitar player and a great person as well-I have nothing but respect for Mark and his playing. I attended this performance-it was my first time seeing Gary play live-i remember he had monster tone, playing through an original Bassman.

tmf714: Could you tell Mark hello from me and forward my music link and youtube to him. He is a great guy. do you have any recent recordings I can watch or listen too? We were next door neighbors (3 houses apart) and played a bunch together with him on drums! Ask him about his drumming. He is a killer at the beat. I had great times in Austin with Mark, and his old band evan johns and the h bombs. Will do Walter-He told me about his drumming-I'm a drummer as well. As soon as I can,I will get some video up-we jam every Thursday at The Beach Shack in Cocoa Beach-Mark gets me up there and lets me stay for an hour or so.
thanks! Tell him to drop me a line if he feels like it. What the heck is he doing in Florida??? That makes about as much sense as me living here in central Ohio :-) They were special days in austin. the scene was cooking. Music everywhere, and it seemed most everyone you ran into was involved with it in some way. I first met Mark and the H bombs when we split bills at the black cat lounge. Our mutual friend Andrew is the one I emailed about this recording of Gary's. Put Mark on the drums for a few. He will probably be better than the guy hired to play them. Tell him my wife Judy say hi too. Walter
here is a shot from austin in the day. James "rock bottom" Dupree was my longtime bassist and my wife on the hood. I always had trouble keeping a drummer....... I guess that is why I defaulted to the 1 man band

I'll second Htownfess' request to get Primich's two nights in Houston recordings on the market. I attended one of the nights and those guys seriously kicked it and Gary was in fine form.

Mark said he wanted a more laid back scene away from Texas. He has a great local band with his wife Lynn-she plays killer lead guitar-The Space Coast Playboys. I will send you some of their vids.
Holey, moley. What a great old-school guitarist. Killer feel. Love the intro and it looks like she's using her thumb for some sweet Magic Sam/JLV/Guitar Slim plucking attack.
Very cool - better than dozens of male guitar wannabees out there.
