Great blues show in Asheville tonight. http://www.macarnold.com/collard_fest.html
I heard it was being taped on video.
1 1/2 hour drive from my home in east TN, but how often does Kim Wilson come to town?
Anyone know him? Is he an approachable guy? I love to talk to great performers, but don't want to be a bother either.
Can't wait!

You'll have a ball. Kim is fantastic!
He's a very approachable guy. I met him in the street here in the UK once. He was very friendly, humourous and graciously made time to chat with me for a few minutes. I spent the rest of that afternoon chewing the fat with his road manager I seem to remember his name was Steve (I don't remember his surname). Who came up to me at the bar . He was a very friendly guy who although he was extremely busy organizing things for the band all day, but he kept coming over and chatting every time he came past.
The T-Birds gig that evening was superb. I had front row seats about 15-20 feet in front of Kim's amps. Man what a sound!

Very approachable. He is, after all, a former Santa Barbarian.
All I know is that he and & I share a birthday with Henri Musselwhite. He is far older than I.

I went to a Kim Wilson gig at my local blues club one night and took with me one of the old cardboard boxes that the Marine Bands used to come in and a sharpie with plans to get Kim's autograph. I stood at the back of the club waiting for him to walk by and when he did, I don't know why, but I chickened out. Aaaarrrggg! ----------

It was great! I had never heard of Mac Arnold and Plateful of Blues. He played a guitar made from a gas can, Great band too.
Kim played later with Mac on bass, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith on drums, and Bob Margolin on guitar. They all sang. Lots of Muddy Waters And Jimmy Reed stuff. Willie played some harp too. He FEELS it.
We talk about equipment, technique, OBs, etc..etc....THe bottom line is entertaining an audience....and Kim does this very well.
It was a small, packed, intimate venue. The best way I can describe is they rocked the house!!
