Im working on a 1man band project,Im praticing ascoustic guitar with a stompbox, and harp,It might be awhile before im tight, but,i have about 15 songs i can kinda get though,I firgure to work my but off with them,in the upcomming weeks a old friend has got a bar,she allways has music,in a college town she wants me to come over on open mic one night,The 1st and few times i ever played guitar in public was 15 years ago at a bar she was batending so im looking forward to playing,I havent seen her in years, but anyways the setup i have,is all acoustic,my guitar,my cigar stomp box with bells and rattles in it,harp,I can put a egg static in the stomp box and have a amp i can run it with, but everything else is acoustic,I have 3 mics a green bullet,a nady sp1 vocal mic,and a egg static which will probelyy be in the stomp box,I have 2 amps 1 fender15r which ill probelly use for the stompbox and a kustum 12A,which i use around here for mic'ed harp. But i got a feeling other than the possibility of the egg static and fender, being used for the stompbox,I was wondering how i could amplify the vocals, guitar, and harp, at a club,i think they have a PA.Is there some kind a mic that i could position to pick up the vocals, guitar, and harp, with out to much trouble,or would i have to mic everything seperate.

use what is on the PA, usually a shure 58 or some sort of clone to it. They work great for singing/blowing on a rack. I would run everything through the PA but the guitar and if the club is small(under 50 people) wouldn't amplify anything but the guitar, vocal, harp. thanks Walter, So would 1 mic placed in the right spot work or would i need a couple mics?Im really liking the stompbox im starting to get the timeing down been working about 8-10 hours a night trying to get it,but it adds some drive and spices up some of my songs that i was growing bored with,The harp is my main worry as its hard to add variety right now,but im starting to add a little,im playing in basically 3 keys so far,so i have a little downtime changing the harps, but i might try to get me a couple more racks there only 8$ the one im using i like it,but i have no exsperience with exspensive ones. You said to only, mic the guitar ,vocals, and harp? you wouldnt amp the stompbox? Its a small club but my stompbox is a cedar cigar box with a rattle in it screwed to the top and a couple bells on a coathanger that shake as i stomp,It adds alot, more so than what i can do with the harp and rack right now to add a little extra,I dont know if it could be heard without micing it or amping it.

so i reread the your post your saying? that if its a smallclub which it is,I can use 1 sm58 for the vocals and harp, but i could just play the guitar without it being miced and the stombox? And this should be loud enough?

here you go:
amplify guitar with your amp use the same PA vocal mic for you singing and rack don't amplify the stomp box or shaker
Open mics are usually hurried affairs. If you try to mic things up, the mix will probably be terrible and you will waste most of your time trying to get it right. Just play quiet and lightly amplify your guitar. Bring the audience to you. Anybody can play loud. That takes only enough skill and practice to turn up the volume dials. Playing quietly shows class and will draw the audience to you if you are good. A loud bad will only make people talk louder while you play. Good luck! don't try to stick a mic in front of the guitar. It will be a mess. Get a soundhole pu and either run it through your amp or the PA. cool thanks walter,i used to have one, until i was at a drummers house and this young guy wanted to play my guitar,I let him,he was allright, but he strummed so hard i thought he was going to break the guitar,And he did bust my acoustic sound hole pickup,I told that story to a older seasoned country bar player,He said thats why you dont just let anybody play your guitar,So now im very picky about who plays her.
