I read here and there , how for some people( I am talking about hobbyists) playing the harp becomes expensive ,very quick ,you need harps in all keys, you gotta try different brands , than you go take the same approach to the mic ,amps , all kind of gadgets, ebay....

I realized ,the other day, that for me it was quite the opposite ,I think by learning to play the harp , I saved money , so many skipped meals , so many breaks at work where I preferred to practice rather than go out and buy food , or taking the time at home to put together a sandwich , so in my breaks I can throw it down in 2 minutes and spend the rest of the break practicing , rather than going out.

Am I the only one?

PS: I do not own amps, mics,..only a couple of harps.

If you play seriously and ignore the external distractions, you'll lose your girlfriend/wife = A LOT OF MONEY SAVED.

With that kinda money BAM you got a new harp set.

At the jams I play...along with gigs and set diversity, the only harp i don't have is an Ab. I suppose i could technically do without any "chicago sound" simulation equipment, but it sure is fun having the options of amp'd sound.

Still, I found cheap ways to get there. I think the valve junior head is the deal of the century, unmodified into the cabinet of your choice. Since I also use delay and certain modeling combinations in my digitech pedal, I probably got off cheap. I already had everything I use except the amp head and the harps and one dirt cheap wireless experiment that cost me $20 at radio shack and is good enough to gig with.

Plus I have a killer recording guitar tube amp I didn't have before I learned to play harp.

I guessing you haven't "lost" a wife.
Saving $$$$ = lost girlfriend
Saving $$$$ = lost wife??? Not by a long shot!!!

But I do get your point.
