Gwen Davis, one of my students is an autistic savant. Her areas of expertise are movies, television, and music. She loves tim mcgraw. Here is a story the paper printed today. I didn't go to the concert. Those big places are not my scene. My aide went with Gwen. I can't wait to hear how it went. The actual paper copy of the newspaper has a couple great pictuers of her. Too bad they didn't make it to the net version. Walter

Walter, I had the wrong 1st opinion of you. I don't think that your a jackass anymore (don't hate me, just telling the truth). You have more heart than you let on. Keep up the good work and I'll not let 1st impressions impress me anymore.

yea Walter does alot of good i give him heck sometimes,but he has alot of heart,and soul.and cares.

thanks deathbound! I feel blessed to have found the developmentally delayed population. Music led me to it. Music guides me to the good things! I have put together a bunch of businesses with my students that are taking off faster than I ever dreamed possible. they run a school cafe that sells coffee, teas, smothies, scratch made NY stlye bagels,scratch made breakfasts, scratch made NJ pizzas, homemade choc chip cookies, homemade dog biscuits, homemade horse treats, and hanging wild bird seed treats. the horse, dog and bird treats are sold in 7 local businesses and via mail order around the country. Society doesn't expect much to become of my students. We are proving them wrong! I also play a lot of music in my class. My students dance all day long. I have a few funky acoustic guitars in my room and a group of future music superstars (not affiliated with the school band programs) come by and hang out a bit at lunch and then take them outside to play. I show them a few things and off they go a running! It feels great to do meaningful work. This is my 16th year in this line of work and all of it has been in impoverished schools. My current one has the second lowest graduation rate in the state. I love working with these kind of kids. they have so much to offer (the regular education students) but most will end up doing nothing most of their lives. Sometimes just being nice to them everyday can change that course. I say live life with big dreams! Thanks to hobostubs too! Walter

Walter, you bring a tear to my eye. I only wish that I could help someone as you do. Yes, I have my wife and daughter, no challenge there.....but to help someone as you do is a true blessing.

thanks deathbound! I was called to do this work the same way I am called to music. It is easy to good work. Just spend some time with a disabled person, a poor kid, or an old person. All three of these groups are deeply in need of people spending time with them. Walter
