Just reading in our online local paper about a great museum about to open:-

http://www.themim.org/

I can remember ca 25 years ago being enthralled at visiting a similar museum in Munich where every conceivable instrument seemed to be housed with many of the museum employees able to bring them to life with real live performances.

This museum being in the US must no doubt have a great section on Blues instruments?

From the website it looks great and certainly in any trip to the US I would consider to put it in the must visit category.

All you guys in the US who live around the corner from the museum would love to hear your comments?

That has to be worth stopping in to check it out.
I drop by the Met over there on the east side of
Manhattan ever once and awhile. They got a room
set aside for all kinds of instruments in there from
all different eras of western music mostly. Funky
old pianofortes, bassoons, crazy looking junk
everywhere you look. Some of those old woodwinds
underwent some very elaborate permutations before
they arrived at their present shape and refinement.

The whole room is kept kind of dark and it feels a
tad weird in there amongst all those old vibes, kind
of like maybe Mortisha or Cousin It could be
hanging around in there somewhere.

Looking at all that stuff, you have to think about
human ingenuity, and time, and all the ways and
means people had used to trick a tune out of
whatever.

I like the saxophones and guitars.
