Wolf had the baddest harp tone of anyone I ever saw or heard, bar none. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
I`ve always said Wolf had the baddest, nastiest harp tone I ever heard and that BW had the widest variety of tonal colors of anyone I`ve ever seen, so it`s a very obvious misquote on your part. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
I've NEVER changed my opinion of BW, and that was in terms of anyone I'd ever gotten a chance to personally see. LW for amplified harp on recordings I'd probably rate higher, but remember, what I said was who I had seen and what one sees and what one hears on recordings can be quite different. Gotta watch your assumptions!!
There's no doubt in my mind LW learned a ton of stuff from not only both SBW's, but also from BW as well.
I got to see Wolf during the 70's, but he was very sick back then, as all his gigs had to be scheduled near a VA hospital so that he could get kidney dialysis and I know what he went thru personally, because for just under 3 years I was also on kidney dialysis myself until I got a kidney transplant in 2003, on Little Walter's birthday and that's no lie.
BW had variety, but for single baddest, nastiest, Wolf hands down and he ALWAYS, when not playing acoustic on his recordings played thru the PA and that tone thru the PA was better than 95% of the players on the plane thru their rigs. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
Harpaholic, I think you just have a tendency to jump to conclusions far too quickly before truly understanding what`s truly being said within proper context, that`s all. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
