Kyzer: With all due respect, wondering about whether to get an IMT to use if you are playing an SM57 into a guitar amp is like wondering if you should buy batteries to put in your flashlight. In either situation it's necessary, not optional, if you want the equipment to work right.
The Audix rat tail IMT is good. I like the Peavey rat tail IMT. You can get the Peavey on line at Greenfly Music Supply. The SKU for the one you you need is:0072010.

done, and with all due respect, hvyj, youre right, the volume on 1.5 is as it was on 5 or 6 before the IMT...absolutely incredible!!! now to tweak the treble mids and bass....as for the frontman, the only difference in mine and the one he used in your blog was his is a 15R, mine has no reverb.. but it sounds as if he didnt use that anyway...

Kyzer - every piece of equipment in the chain makes a difference. Some day you'll get a batter amp. Will you be sorry then you didn't buy a better mic now? There are lots of variables - your goals and your finances of course - so only you can answer. All I know is, I regret spending money on lousy gear I've bought in the past. I have never regretted the $$ I've spent on the good stuff.
