JR & NB will be at the Maple Leaf tomorrow, April 3rd, for anyone in or near New Orleans. I'm dragging out several people to hopefuly help make a big crowd for Jason and crew. I hope he's feeling better!
I just saw him tonight here in southern ms., the hives are no BS; before you start taking it lightly, try clearing the sidewalk with a catheter and a tracheotomy because you are too swollen to breathe or relieve yourself. he's been in the ER twice in the last 3 weeks for these issues.
put on a hell of a show, cant wear shoes cause his feet are swollen. its a mess. he's a dear old friend. I wish him the best.
Jason should avoid the following foods and get a blood test for food allergies ASAP. Wheat is in nearly everything that is mass produced. Just eat fresh fruit and veggies and lean meats. drunk only filtered water. New data says that some 30 or 40% are actually allergic to wheat. Wheat reactions can hit you at any time and take several forms. It takes on average 5 years and 5 doctors to find a diagnosis for wheat allergies. Anyone with thyroid issues should avoid wheat in all its forms. It has taken me 6 years to get a doc with the brains to deal with it. Chiropractors are leading the industry in this, MD's arn't cutting it. If you've got thyroid issues, get this book.

i suffer from chronic hives. Ive had it, in various degrees of inflammation, for the last 12 years or so. I ate benadryl like jelly beans for almost a year... the walking dead, until i discovered claratin. It doesnt do much for you once you break out, but one a day keeps it under wraps pretty handily. im sure jason's in good hands with the docs, but if you read this, violin cat, it cant hurt to try it. ive seen the pics he posted and it soooo looks like me 10 years ago. ---------- Kyzer's Travels
"in good hands with the docs" five out of seven of my docs are wrong... one of my docs, that's right, tells me that the Mayo Clinic has a 30 something % failure rate. and those ppl are supposed to be the cream of the doc crop. I've learned to not just treat symptoms, but keep looking for the cure, or at least a solid reason for why things are going on with your health. If the HMO bozos had their way, I'd be a 300 pound diabetic in a wheel chair. I got lucky and found some real 'healers'. It takes a long time for changes to work their way through the western medical science machine... personally, I don't have that much time to waste. the horror is, a simple think like grain can cause the illnesses that middle age and elderly westerners come down it. the list is long and impressive. even worse, wheat gluten is addictive in every sense of the word. gluten works the brain like a drug, and will bend your mind like a junky jonesing for dope. seriously.... it can be pure hell for ppl who have their diagnosis and just can't bring themselves to giving up wheat. its truely insane.
this is 'The Man' on gluten. Dr. Thomas O'Bryan his thedr.com site has a dvd with enough info to scare ya
I got to talk with Jason for a little bit when he was setting up for the show Saturday. He shared his suffering with the hives, money woes, the pressure put on him and the band to perform no matter what, etc. That's a rough life, being on the road.
But, from the very first chord, all of this was left behind. Jason and the band(plus some special guests)tore the Maple Leaf up! He poured his whole being into this performance like I have never seen anyone do.
At one point, he sang an a capella version of Grinning In Your Face, quite possibly inspired by the run-ins with club owners, agents, etc. on the road. I had to leave a little ahead of the end of the show(I have little kids and I'm the Easter Bunny), but I reluctantly left, as Jason and the band were on such a natural high throughout this show, I really wanted to see how it ended. Even my wife, who rarely has much to say about the shows I play(except if she doesn't think I sound good sining a certain tune or I'm having a bad voice day-she's quick to share that stuff!), was totally blown away by this show. I think adversity is pulling the very best out of Jason. I just hope he's able to keep up and recover for his health's sake.
If he's coming anywhere near you anytime soon, get out and support him and the band-you will be richly rewarded in kind with a stellar show.
