Here stands Murray, ugly blues hat in hand, begging for a favour.

On April 8 I'm leaving London to go on a 2-week trip to Cape Town, South Africa, where I'm supposed to be gigging with my cheerful old band, "The Bone Collectors".

But I need a replacement adaptor for my ancient Shure microphone. It's one of those Switchcraft adapters that screws onto your mic and connects to a 1/4-inch cable.

Looks like this:

Does anyone in the UK have one of these to spare for a few weeks? I'm ordering one from Greg Heumann but it'll take a while to get here. Obviously, I would take full responsibility for your adapter if you loaned it to me, and will offer up my left nut if, god forbid, something happened to it. Or I could just replace it. Your choice.

Bless you, eharp. But I doubt that'd be practical. All the way from Detroit? Nah, I'll just suck it up and play acoustic.

Elwood, where/when are you going to be gigging? If I can make it, I'd love to swing by. A very mini MBH meetup in good 'ol SA. :D

Sorry Murray - need mine and only have the one. I got mine from Keith Parker here in the UK. I dunno if he's still selling stuff, his website seems to have disappeared though. Thought I'd mention it though just in case.

Was gonna mention Keith Parker myself, but was also unsure if he was still trading..

Incidentally, Mr VLU - am I right in thinking you have Richard Sleigh's book? ordered it a while back (I'm in UK), but can't get any reponse from him via email since.

Apologies for hijacking :-)

Elwood - I don't have the switchcraft connectors, but I do have 1/4 jack cables with vintage connectors built in. If it's the 4 pin type, which I use with my vintage 545, I could post it to you.

Send me an email: blowtheblues(at)hotmail.com

Elwood,

I'm in N Surrey, 2 min from M25 J11, I have a couple that I'm not using, I'd need them back on your return.

I'm on myspace & facebook, PM me via either (though my access will be sporadic over Easter).

Mark Burness.

@chinaski

yeah, I got the book for Christmas from my in-laws. AFAIK it was a very straightforward transaction. Give him a while, he's a busy fella!
