Just wondering what 15" speakers others might use in there amps. I know that Kim Wilson, James Harman, Norton Buffalo and other pros have used 15s at different times. Do you have any experience to share? Thanks!
All the best!

15" don't fit my playing. I've tried couple of times.

I've played through a few amps with a 15" speaker. They sounded great to me.

You can't beat a Tweed Pro for harp. Or a Brown Pro.

You know, I generally like 10" speakers for harp. But I played through a bass amp once that had a 15" and I though it sounded pretty good.

15" speakers sound great, but tend to feedback much sooner than say 4 x 10.
So either mic them up, or like James Harman use 2 amps for gigging.

That's because a Pro puts out 34 watts as opposed to 45 watts for a Bassman. It's not that 15s feedback sooner, it's related to the type of circuit.

Not strictly true, I've tried 15" through a Bassman a Vibrolux and a Bandmaster.
You get less actual volume before the onset of feedback than with 2x10 or 4x10.

Its to do with speaker area, frequency response and whole other lot of voodoo.

I've tried lots of speaker combinations.
1x15",2x10", 4x10",9x8", 8x8", 4x8 + 1x15"

Currently use 4x8+ 2x10"

Wow, that looks like the shit, man. Very, very cool. Gonna read that thread through when I get back from town.

What's your ohm set up from the amp into the cab?

@Ev630 Glad you like it :o)

Its 4 ohms. All the info is in the thread.

I built my Bassman chassis into a tweed covered head.
Its got a multi tapped output transformer 2,4 and 8ohms

I've got an EV 15" I'm going to put in a cab soon and use for smaller gigs. Its sounds great with the Bassman.

Just realised thats you playing in the video above.
Very nice.

I'm replacing a blown 15" speaker. Anyone have suggestions for make/model for harp. The 15A125 would fit great but I need something that will handle 50 watts. Thanks for all of the comments!

I have a Supro amp that uses a 15" alnico Jensen P15P it sounds excellent. I have used 2x8" speakers 4x8" 2X 10" & 12" & to me the 15" sounds as good as them all. I love 15" speakers I think a lot of people are put off by them but the 15" are misunderstood most people who have used them love them. I guess it depends what type of 15" speaker it is & what amplifier it is in.
