This is a vid of Victor Puertas with his brother Pere.
I think that his playing is outstanding

I will be posting some vids of Victor at the West Weston gig soon so this is just a taste of his acoustic tone.

Fabulous

Say Paul (Kingley) would you say that his harp is in JI?
some of the notes sound really sweet at about 4.50 on the upper register.

Oh yeah Victor is great! I love his playing.

Victor plays Marine Band Deluxe harps, so they are tuned to compromised JI by default. If I had to guess though I'd say he has retuned them to 7 limit JI. I could be wrong though. Joe Spiers or BBQ Bob have far better ears than mine and could probably say for sure.

He's got what I think Joe Filisko called "the dirt" in his sound. He's got the little bits of adjacent notes that fill out the sound and make all the difference.

Here's another video that has some of that:

Guest Spot with West Weston Band and the Jazz Bar Gig.

He has great tone and timing. It sounded fantastic on the night and the vid does not wuite capture the intensity I felt.

He sounds totally different through the same rig as Weston. Why is that?

Hope you enjoy

Oxharp - Russ it's because the players acoustic tone is the most important thing and that is what always comes through.

This is why people like BBQ Bob quite rightly always tell people to forget about gear and concentrate on proper technique. What most people forget is that you will always sound like you. Gear does not give you the "big sound". You do.

In the first video it was really interesting to see someone go between 1st and 2nd position in the same solo. Really enjoyed that. Thanks for posting.
