Yeah, last night! Very cool. Packed house. Full dance floor all night long. Got to spend some quality time with my long time friend Barrelhouse Chuck, and Kim, Larry Taylor, and Billy Flynn. Richard Inness was always busy, but I did have him autograph one CD.

Kim always puts on a great show, and this was no exception.
He used THREE big amps...A Fender Pro blackie that I think was running solo, and a pair of a Fender Tweed bassman tilted and one of the rattiest looking red no-name that may have been another bassman or a concert.
All were mic'ed.

First set, harp tone was awesome, but sounded kind of mushy at the edges. This was not AS noticeable, because many songs just featured Kim singing / no harp.
Second set, the volume was up and good.

I extended an invite to the Little Walter tribute on May 2nd, and Kim said he just might show up if he's available.

That ratty looking amp is Kim's personal original 59
Bassman. We had some fun joking around about when he was in Long Island last year. He was using a similar setup with the same results.

Oh, it was HARP CENTRAL last night.
Every tin sandwich player I know of was there! And it says something about the harp community that I consider ALL of them friends!
The outstanding Ray Wells, who survived a health emergency recently. Great to have him still doin' the Blues!
Jeff Priolo, Chuck Rorabaugh, Rick Munoz were in house.
Bill and Garey and John, too.
The INCREDIBLE Kevin McCracken even showed for set-up and kim's 1st set despite recovering from the flu.
AND the UNBELIEVABLE "Little Funn" Jimmie originally from Southie was hangin'round! I even know his REAL name!

I found out from "House" that Billy Flynn is also an accomplished harp player ( and practically every instrument ever known to mankind! ).

I can’t believe Kim still has that red Bassman. The first time I saw the T-Birds was around 1976 at a club called Rose’s Cantina here in Atlanta. Both Jimmy and Kim were playing through painted red 4/10 Bassman’s. Fergie was playing through a solid state 50 watt Peavey self contained amp with one 15 and Mike Buck was playing a small (for that time) kit. Kim sang through a Shure Vocal Master PA and the sound those guys got was scary. They were light years ahead of every other white blues band that I had heard live including the original Paul Butterfield band. What makes it so hard to believe he still has it is that when my old band mate Preston Hubbard joined the band and they were hitting hard with the hit Tuff Enough one of the roadies was selling their vintage equipment from the storage place they rented. I guess the Bassman was just too ratty looking for the asshole to get any money for.
