Someone started a thread about playing with hands around a coffee cup and I remembered this video of Jason Ricci.

Actually, this guy has 9 or 10 videos posted from a show Jason and New Blood did in Germany. This IS the highest quality, sound and picture, that I have found of Jason on youtube.

Man...my eyes were welling up when he kicked it gear after switching from the PA mic. A lifetime of harp lessons to be had in one video. He has this habit of always checking his mic volume...a couple of times a minute...like somehow it had changed since he last checked.

Does anyone know how he is doing after his visit to the hospital in AZ?

Yeah, Jason's on my payroll as the official volume knob stress tester.....

Seriously - this video just shows again how complete a player Jason is - he is AT HOME and masterful in so many styles.

the coffee cup is a good idea, i have done it with glasses, but if my hands are a bit sweaty it is in danger of slipping out... finger in the handle is nice.. but it is pretty heavy and harder to move.

anybody seen him last few gigs since Phoenix? he up and around after that deal?

He had a bad case of hives. He's doing better now. I saw him Friday night in Santa Monica at Harvelle's, and he was in top form.

Great news! I've been fortunate enought to catch 3 of Jason's shows and I was never disappointed. Jason puts everything he has into it.

Hey, Thanks everyone for all the kind words! Greg the new microphone is amazing! 7th Dave thanks! I didn't feel in top form all that night I felt like I was at a Yaght club The sound was actually great I was told by everyone just felt so early and sterile. It was good for me to have an early night indeed though I guess and the food there was amazing! Thank you so much for coming you should have introduced yourself as a member of this forum. I was bummed to leave San Diego indeed and even more so to be heading back East after just barely playing CA at all. Next time. In case anyones wondering I'm doing better. Things were tough, I wasn't sleeping or eating enough, the altitude, financial stress, and crazy schedule caught up with my immune system and I had an allergic/stress induced BATTLE deluxe with hives and flu like symptoms. After some food, rest, good music and awesome friends help I pulled it togther a bit. Thanks for all your concern I I'm thinking should have at least a few years left in me.

Great news Jason.
I know it must be hard to be a pro musician and get sick. Calling in sick is not an option.

This is a direct link to all those great videos that were made in Europe.

Jason, good to hear you are ok... take care of yourself, says waltherharp selfishly.

I bet the videos came from the cameras that were projecting live up on the screens behind and the sound is synced from the soundboard. Jason, you should snag those videos for your website at the very least

Too bad about getting run down like that. Hope you're OK now. Make sure you look out for #1. Health, that's what is truly important.

The coffee cup vids, Stellar performances as always. Thanks for that.

I don't see any Canada dates in 2010... Too bad... Anything brewing? Toronto to Buffalo?

Jason....I'm looking forward to finally see you play live. My understanding is that you'll be in MN for the SPAH show in August. I doubt that you drive "Vana White" up to MN very often otherwise!

Hey Joch regretfully, I will not be able to attend Spah this year I'll be in Europe during that weak. I'm sure someone will be picking up the Tuesday night showcase spot in my place at least I hope so!

Xharp Canada dosen't let me past its borders very often. It's the only country of many that has ever refused a Moon cat... So I don't ever try to go there we considered a few offers this year then feared the worst. The last time cost me 10,000.00 dollars just in overhead not counting lost wages. So the Big Leaf scares me a bit.

I am in MN and have heard some rumblings of who will be taking Jason's place. Somehow my band's name got thrown in the mix of leading one of the blues jams. I hope we get the nod, but who knows? I am super bummed Jason isn't going to be there! It has been ages since we've had you in MN, Cat!!!!

Damn, Can't blame you if we treated you like that. On behalf of all Canuck's, deepest appologies.

What about Buffalo or Detroit.. Both are close enough for a cool road trip. And missus X can shop her brains out ;-)
