I was interested in how other people may come up with their stage names or nicknames. My given name is long and hard to pronounce as it is Germanic, so I decided you use a name that everyone knows how to pronounce. The result was Jingo Thompson. A jingo is a type of person who believes in an extreme form of patriotism. I drew the surname from my roots in English heritage. I first thought Nelson would be better for my Irish roots of an actual family name, but then realized it didn't flow as well as Thompson. Thompson was simple and it just clicked for me. I haven't really gotten much anywhere with my playing, but I will be ready when people ask my name.

I will. I plan on practicing the harp whenever I have the time, even when in public. I'm trying to soak it up so that I can get some good music coming from my soul. That's why I find my stage name important. It conveys and reminds of my ideas.

I put the question to the forum and as a result decided to stick with Ozark Rich (for now). The best names though are usually bestowed by others. ---------- Ozark Rich
