I am new to playing and wanted an amp, so I bought an Epi valve jr half stack from a friend for a great price. I didn't realize how loud a 5W amp is in a small house, so I went out to buy something that I could control the volume with. Neither of my mics have volume control. I have never hear anyone else even mention using a mixer for this, so I ask, is this a good setup or crap? Or maybe it gives me preamps, effects, vol. control and channels for other things such as stomp box, headphones, recording? Does this eliminate the need for a tone knob mod? Thanks for all responses. No, the mixer or eq might cut some feedback(actually an eq would, but a mixer's more for recording), but won't change the tone. The mods on LoneWolfBlues.com will affect the tone, in a very good way. Save your money on that mixer(unless you just want a mixer)and either do the mods yourself, send it to Randy, or get someone handy with a soldering iron and electronics to help you. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks Todd, I will do those mods for sure but I already have the mixer wanting to try to control volume. I simply can't drive the amp without blasting in a small space.

...or just, turn the amp down. ;-) Note that the 'tone knob' mod is really a treble cut.
