Hello, lurker for a while. Thanks for all the posts.
getting back into playing, I've picked up a Lee Oskar Melody Maker in E. I figure that if my brain needs to remember where notes are on a regular diatonic, maybe i can trick it into learning a Melody Maker too.
It's fun. Like the Natural Minor LO's, the Melody Maker's (i hate that name) are labeled in 2nd Position. So the Melody Maker in E is actually a diatonic A harp with a couple of reeds tuned differently.
That would mean a Melody Maker labeled in the key of C would actually be a, F harp with a couple reeds tuned differently. Does anyone have one of these?
I assume it's a high F, modified with a couple re-tuned reeds. I'm hoping it's a deep, low F, because i dread those shrill squawks and tweets I'd make as i bumbled around on such a high harp.
Can you tell me if the Lee Oskar Melody Maker, labeled in the key of C, is based off a high F or low F harp?
Once again, thanks for all the posts. As I get hungry to think about harmonica again, it's good to talk, listen and read.

Melody Maker labeled in C arrived and is from a low F. I like the lower tunings and have been having some fun with this. thanks again

I have the complete set of MMs(five, I think)-they are cool to play with from time to time. I played The Old Rugged Cross(an old Gospel tune)on a MM at a relative's funeral last year. No bends required! Maybe because the Melody Makers are 'oddities' in that they aren't the big sellers and perhaps get more attention in the factory, but mine all seem to be gapped a little closer than most of my LO major diatonics. Enjoy! ----------
