Woo. HOO! Just back from playing a set on Main street! First time in nearly 4 months Jo has been able to play out! We did about 9 songs, a standard set. She felt it some but that's what meds are for. I don't know who's happier, her or me! Prudence dictates going very easy here. I am happy we got to do that much! Hopefully we can go up once a weekend and spread some joy.
Though you fellas might want to hear some good news!

I played my newish Dabell Story in D quite a bit and otherwise MB Deluxe, a Hohner 365, and a Suzuki SCX48.

Sure felt good!

Doc, Phil, thank you guys. I'll tell you, nearly losing your love makes a big impression! Last January we almost lost Jo to cancer. She was in hospital and extended care for 12 days. When she got home I was dedicated to doing my best to help her heal, no matter what tomorrow brought. I feel the same today. Playing music this year with her has been such a huge bonus! Our home sessions have been great but she really loves spreading joy out in public. So when she's feeling good enough we will be there.

Wonderful! That is great news!

At this point in my life and in the state of the world I have come to fully appreciate the "SEIZE THE DAY!" mindset.

Are you currently in an area that will continue acceptable outdoor temperatures for gigs, or is the outdoor season ending in your locale?

Well, Texas Hill Country. Last year we busked through New Year's, then Jo ended up laid up. Mid February saw a record storm with a lot of snow and ice which crippled the city for a week more or less. Starting in early April it was nice enough to get back out there.

Jo's cancer has limited her ability to play more than a set so we're busking once a weekend, maybe twice and that's it. But it's great anyway.
Between 65 and 75 and partly cloudy is ideal here.

Doug- indeed, when if not now do people need some spontaneous music in their day?

Both Saturday and Sunday were very good days to be out. Jo felt good enough to play both days. People sure respond well to live music done well.

Thanks Blz. In our lives it's the best thing we can do to spread some joy. Many people have given us many gifts this year.

thought of you when I saw this on local craigslist. Pretty cool - you have a rolling set up.

Walter! Good to see you! Still in Reno?
We're living in a 26 foot travel trailer, towing with a Nissan Titan. We are hoping to head to the northeast for summer if Jo's health holds. Currently I'm working for a site here in the Texas Hill Country.
Interesting rig there.

We were out for an hour today playing on the street and plan to go back tomorrow. Life is sweet!

Hey jbone
If you’re considering the northeast next summer give some thought to Maine. We’ve got a great blues music scene ( check out bluzjunky.com for venues). If you like the coast I’d consider towns from Bath/Brunswick to Rockland or even Bar Harbor (although campsites there could be hard to come by.) If you like lake areas, Western Maine or the lakes region of New Hampshire eg Wolfsboro might be good but fewer opportunities for venues.

I have some feelers out for resort/park jobs up that way. One near York. If I can get a gig to work for a site and if hospice care is available for my bride I may be ale to make this work.
