My band, The Barstool Blues Band, recently recorded a cover of the folk tune "16 Tons." When it came time for my harp solo, I attempted to mimic the vocal melody. There was already sax, piano, and banjo solos in our arrangement, and they all played great solos that fit the tune. I thought that I could bring some unity to the song by emphasizing the vocal line and modifying it to fit into the 12 bars I was given. How did I do?

You Did Fine. Here is an example of how I do it. Minie is a little New Orleanish.

Mirco, the whole thing gets my vote! Very good harp part on top of some nice work by all involved. Jolene says your singer's voice is close to hers, she dug it too!
