IMHO improvisation skill are developed with hard work and
good instruction. The videos that I put up over the
last few days show different skill sets. I don't think
there is a magic position that solves all of the problems
of playing over changes. A tune like The Girl From Ipanema goes through at least 8 tonal centers. A knowledge of chord
changes would be helpful to say the least.
Without good tone getting the listener in to hear what your
playing will be difficult. There is no magic bullet microphone
that's gonna change that.
The ability to move around the harmonica is essential to
help you get the full of expression of what you want say
in your solo.
All of this combined with natural talent and good
ear seems to be good recipe.

This piece was recorded live in the studio.
The harmonica part is improvised. It was done
in two takes. NO OVERDUBS

I told them I was gonna make the harmonica sound like
a cello. No special effects were used.
There is only reverb. I used an Akg c414 mic.
