Hello,

I am hearing that the great James Harman passed away yesterday. As many may know, James had been battling stage 4 cancer. At least one news article from the Netherlands cites a heart attack yesterday as being the cause of death.

Always one of my favorite storytellers in all of the blues, and a fine harmonica player, song writer, and singer.

I hope this is just a rumor. I got to meet James in about '99 in Dallas and he was the coolest of cucumbers. Of course a great showman. Back in the Blue Cat Blues club days. also saw him at a King Biscuit. He never disappointed.

Sadly, this is being widely reported now as true.

Great show with James at the Zoo Bar 25th anniversary show in 1998, with a 21 year-old Nathan James on guitar. Has some interview segments with James, as well.

A very nice clip from 1986 with Kid Ramos:

Finally, one of my all time favorites, Tall Skinny Mama (Icepick's Story #389), which showcases his skill at both harp and storytelling.

An incredible loss. Not too many guys with the feel he could convey through his harp and voice. I always liked "I Got News for You" so elegantly simple and soulful - https://youtu.be/LSE0pTYQgs8
