Go to your local blues club every month regardless.

If you like Little Walter or traditional harp, then yes. I would go check it out. ---------- Mike Fugazzi http://www.myspace.com/niterailband http://www.youtube.com/user/NiteRail http://www.twitter.com/NiteRail http://www.facebook.com/mike.fugazzi

Yes! you should go. Here are a few reasons:
1) Whatever level you're at, it's good to see, and support, your fellow players--especially pros out on the road trying to make a living at the instrument
2) Since he's a proven master at recreating the Little Walter sound, you're sure to learn something about that. You can talk to him about his amp & mic and see how the live sound holds up. How loud is his stage volume? Does he use a small amp and mic it up?
3) You'll find out what his live set is actually composed of. YouTube clips can't tell you that. He may surprise you with stuff that is unlike the stuff we've seen on YouTube.
4) No video can replace the experience of actually being in the room with a strong, dynamic player. He's certain to inspire you.

A better question is why wouldn't you go and see him?
Almost ever harp player can learn something from another player. Sometimes, you'll learn some new skills. Sometimes, you might learn some things to avoid.
When I lived in Chicago, that was part of the learning process. Go to see better players and learn something by watching and listening to them. You might be surprised at the things you can learn, but you've gotta pay attention.

I totally agree with Joe and Adam.
If Bharath was playing in my town, wild horses wouldn't keep me away from the gig. You will learn so much (if you really watch and listen) and also have a great night of blues.

That's what I get for my facetious post. What did I think everybody was going to say? There is so much great blues happening here in L.A. and I have to miss most of it due to my schedule and lack of funds. I'm going to make every effort to catch this show, especially since he's appearing with Junior Watson and Fred Kaplan. Edit: What Adam says about YouTube verses live shows is so true. Seeing Jason Ricci's vids on YT was one thing but they didn't even come close to the awesomeness of his sound when I finally saw him live (at this same club.)

@the frozen canuck do you know where you can get Joe Murphy's CD? I tried My Father's Moustache (local bar for you none locals where he has played every saturday for last 20 years) and they didn't know. I went across the street to the local big box music store and asked them and they said Joe who?
